Fishing season in Mexico Bay on the Eastern
shore of Lake Ontario starts when the ice melts,
usually around the first week in April. The type
of fish caught depends on the season. Use the
following chart to determine which time of the
year you would prefer to fish.
APRIL AND MAY
Fishing during April and May is near the shore and
primarily for Brown Trout, Steel Head and Lake Trout.
JUNE AND JULY
As weather warms and the lake temperature starts to
rise, fishing moves off shore. During these months,
fishing is control depth for Brown Trout and Lake
Trout. This is a great time for family fishing! Lake
Ontario in the summer months is generally warm and calm.
AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER
Fishing late in the season is for the big boys Salmon!
This could be deep water or shallow water fishing,
depending on the conditions.
